Healthcare Inequalities Hero 2023

The Healthcare Inequalities Hero Award is one of five categories in our Clinical Audit Heroes Awards. The award recognises clinical audits that have utilised findings to reduce healthcare inequalities.

The winner of this award will be announced at a Healthcare Inequalities themed Lunch & Learn event, hosted by NQICAN, on Wednesday 21 June 2023 (12.30-1.30pm); details of which will are available on the Clinical Audit Awareness Week page. Please keep this date/time free if you have entered this award.

Eligibility criteria

Submissions must meet the following criteria:

  • Must involve a clinical audit(s)*
  • Individuals or teams can be nominated by themselves or by others
  • Projects, individuals or teams can be involved in any type of healthcare setting in the UK
  • Those nominated must have led or made a substantial contribution to the successful delivery of the project
  • Includes evidence specific to each award
  • The project period must have been since 1st October 2021
  • Shows evidence of reducing health inequalities

*HQIP Best Practice in Clinical Audit 

A key theme running through all categories is excellence in clinical audit and quality improvement techniques, with clinical audit helping to fuel real and impactful improvements in health and care.

Judging criteria

Submissions will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Clear project design*
  • Championing data-driven and evidence-based improvement as good practice
  • Evidence of reduction in health inequalities
  • Evidence of a re-audit showing improvement and sustainability
  • Innovative approach
