Paediatric diabetes – Report on care and outcomes 2021/22 

National Paediatric Diabetes Audit (NPDA)

The National Paediatric Diabetes Audit (NPDA) has published its report on care and outcomes 2021/22. Based on data from 33,251 children and young people receiving care from a PDU in 2021/22 in England and Wales, it found that the increase in incidence of Type 1 diabetes observed in the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic was followed by a continuing increase in the numbers newly diagnosed with the condition in 2021/22.

Cardiovascular disease – Third annual audit report

CVDPREVENT Audit

The CVDPREVENT Audit has published its third annual audit report. Covering the audit period up to March 2022, it provides insight into the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on primary care services (diagnosis and management of hypertension were significantly disrupted) and compares the national position against key ambitions identified as milestones for the prevention of CVD; the detection and management of atrial fibrillation, blood pressure and cholesterol.

Asthma and COPD – Clinical outcomes October 2018–March 2020 

National Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Audit Programme (NACAP)

The National Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Audit Programme (NACAP) has published its Clinical outcomes October 2018 – March 2020 Summary report. Based on the 30- and 90-day outcomes of 107,761 adults and 6,716 children and young people, the report shows what happened after people were admitted to hospital with an asthma attack or COPD exacerbation between 2018 and 2020, the last years before the COVID-19 pandemic. The data show that many people are being readmitted to hospital within 3 months of going home and that some, particularly with COPD, are dying within 3 months of their exacerbation.

Falls and Fragility Fractures Audit Programme (FFFAP)

The Falls and Fragility Fractures Audit Programme (FFFAP) has published its State of the nation report 2022 for Wales. This summary report examines how the care of inpatient falls and fragility fracture has changed since 2020, showing what the audit reveals about the quality of patient care, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

 


Suicide and mental health – Annual report

National Confidential Inquiry into Suicide and Safety in Mental Health (NCISH)

The National Confidential Inquiry into Suicide and Safety in Mental Health (NCISH) has published its annual report on UK patient and general population data for 2010-2020. It includes findings relating to people aged 10 and above who died by suicide between 2010 and 2020 across all UK countries as well as people under mental health care who have been convicted of homicide, and those in the general population.

Paediatric Intensive Care – State of the Nation Report 2022

Paediatric Intensive Care Audit Network (PICANet)

The Paediatric Intensive Care Audit Network (PICANet) has published its State of the nation report 2022. Based on data from January 2019 to December 2021, it catalogues comprehensive information on referral, transport and admission events to monitor the delivery and quality of care in relation to agreed standards and evaluate clinical outcomes to inform national policy in paediatric critical care. More specifically, it reports on five key metrics relevant to Paediatric Intensive Care services: case ascertainment including timeliness of data submission; retrieval mobilisation times; emergency readmissions within 48 hours of discharge; unplanned extubation in PICU; and mortality in PICU.
