HQIP awards Royal College of Physicians contract to deliver National Lung Cancer Audit

Today the Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP) is pleased to announce it has awarded the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) the contract to deliver the National Lung Cancer Audit (NLCA), for the forthcoming 3-5 years.

Since May 2015, HQIP and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) have been working collaboratively on a new project aiming to increase utility of national clinical audit (NCA) data to drive quality improvement in health care. Central to the project is maximising accessibility and improving presentational format of NCA data to aid in CQC inspections of acute hospitals and mental health trusts.

Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme launches first report into post-hospital stroke care

The Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme (SSNAP) for the first time today, launches an audit report on the organisation of care for stroke patients once they have left hospital. The audit covers England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and includes care in community hospitals, care homes and in the patients' own home.

National congenital heart disease audit reveals 30-day surgery survival rates

Data published today by the National Congenital Heart Disease Audit (NCHDA) shows that 22,719 congenital heart operations and transcatheter interventional procedures were performed across 34 centres, including all 14 specialist paediatric units, between 2011 and 2014 in the UK and Republic of Ireland. No hospital had excess mortality for paediatric surgery within the reporting period as assessed by using the PRAiS risk adjustment model.
