This annual report focuses on how cardiac services can align with the NHS Long-Term plan for large scale improvements in outcomes. It also covers how national audit data can feed quality improvement programmes and service redesign through four main processes termed the ACID test:

  • Aggregation: clinical pathways should be reviewed
  • Collaboration: working together to achieve better results
  • Information: enables decision-making
  • Delegation: Nurse Specialists and Physician Associates can improve services
